Your question is rhetorical, of course... Call it what you will - soul, emotion, mojo - some people have it, some don't. I think someone could play a JG solo note-for-note, on his guitar, but you would know it's not Jerry, just from the way he phrases, sustains, bends notes, plays accentuated triplets, etc.

Related- Interesting if somewhat wonky article in today's NY Times - they've actually tried to study the emotional content/impact of music and its effect on the brain, with comments from artists like Paul Simon and YoYo Ma. Subtlety and surprise are key elements; JG had those in spades.
